About Us

Welcome and thank you for your interest in Jacqueline's School of Dance (JSOD). JSOD has been an established dance studio in the Durham region since 1984. Our current location offers four bright, spacious, and climate controlled studios that operate six days a week. Our instructors are fully qualified members of the BATD (British Association of Teachers  of Dancing), the Paula Morgan Technique, Acrobatic Arts, Leap and Learn, Twinkle Star Dance, ,Randolph Academy of the Performing Arts, Ryerson and York Universities. They are professionals who continually educate themselves with new, innovative styles and techniques.

We offer unsurpassed instruction in ballet, pointe, acro, jazz, tap, contemporary, lyrical, musical theatre, and hip hop, focusing on technique and musicality. Classes are organized according to age and experience on both recreational and competitive levels. Our Twinkle Star dancers start as young as two years old while there seems to be no limit to the ages of our adult dancers.

JSOD's success is due to the fact that we treat each and every one of our dancers and their families equally and enthusiastically. We recognize that our students are eager to learn dance skills and technique while at the same time remembering that everyone wants to have fun and feel good about themselves. JSOD has built a reputation as being a "home away from home" for our dancers.

Jacqueline's School of Dance has been the recipient of the prestigious Ajax Pickering News Advertiser Readers Choice Award for the Best Dance Studio 8 out of the 10 times since inception. Our dancers have shown their support, as have their families. We are very proud of this award as well as the successes of our annual spring Showcase "Dreams Do Come True", the marks of excellence during our BATD student examinations and the achievements of our Competitive and Elite dance teams that travel and perform across Ontario as well as internationally.

From TwinkleTots to the most advanced teens and adults, all students are encouraged to reach their highest potential and achieve excellence every step of the way. Our annual calendar begins in September of every year, but we do accept new enrolment on an ongoing basis throughout the dance year, provided there is space and the inclusion of new students does not disrupt routines. We welcome new and experienced dancers to join us. Watch this site for class and registration information updates in the late spring and early summer.

Another great way to introduce yourself to dance is to spend a week at our exciting  INSPIRE ARTS CAMP which takes place during the summer. Ideal for those ages 5 through 16, the Camp is staged in our dance studio over a one, two, or three week session. Campers arrive before 9am and spend the day exploring all genres of dance, acting, improvising, arts and crafts.

Our Teaching Faculty is fully committed to your development and training. You are sure to find a favourite teacher within this diverse group! Our teachers each with their own individual background in dance bring their expertise and knowledge into the classroom. Information on each teacher can be found on our Faculty Page

Our Administrative Staff and faculty members of JSOD work as a team to ensure the studio is run efficiently and in a well-organized manner. All members of our team love what they do. Their primary goal is to support our growth and stability. For a list of staff, visit our Admin Staff Page.

Our class schedule is a list of the available 100 classes. The schedule is arranged by discipline. Each class is listed with the level, time and day it is held. This schedule remains the same for the entire season except for minor changes during special events ie, examinations, picture day and Showcase rehearsal week.

Thank you for choosing JSOD. Please let us know what we can do to make your time with us extraordinary!
